Skippin down the sidewalk the other day
Got my phone in my hand with my tunes on play
Lookin in my wallet app to see
If I wanna buy any more BTC

I'm checkin out Bitcoin market prices
Apple don't wannit on their devices
Governments they don't understand it
That's just how Satoshi planned it

Just like the central bank
They don't know what to think
They wanna control it
But they don't own it
Now the control, we stole it!

Wish I knew who to thank
For making me my own bank
Satoshi Nakamoto
A real life superhero

This is Satoshi's gift to the world!

[Bitcoin][Blockchain][Bitcoin] 1UP!

If you have some BTC
Please send it to my public key
So I can use my private to
..release the coins inside it ... wtf?

Liberated money was not an option
Up until Bitcoin's mass adoption
No more money for wars and evil
Bitcoin by and for the people

Just like the central bank
They don't know what to think
They wanna control it
But they don't own it
Now the control, we stole it!

Wish I knew who to thank
For making me my own bank
Satoshi Nakamoto
A real life superhero

This is Satoshi's gift to the world!

if i didn't try to kiss you
would it be ok
and if i could'nt rise to meet you
would you tell your friends about me
would they even know how lucky

if that dress you're wearing fit you
i could walk away
and if i really tried to get you
would you slide across that leather
would you glue our skin together

if i had an ounce of courage
i could be myself
but theres too much at stake you see
its a goddamn catastrophy
how the whole world except for me
has a grip on reality

im slowly slipping off the edge
of the world, and it
feels kinda funny
i feel kinda funny

im slowly slipping off the edge
of the world and i'm
taking you with me i'm
taking you with me

if my eyes could see inside you
would my dream come true
i'm somebody you can lie to
if it makes you feel empowered
i will be your fucking coward

if you danced a bit more slowly
i could feel you move
if you had something to show me
i'd worship all around you
exalt the day i found you

if i had an ounce of courage
i could be myself
but theres too much at stake you see
its a goddamn catastrophy
how the whole world except for me
has a grip on reality

im slowly slipping off the edge

JayTube is basically my own personal YouTube experience on the web. Online video sites like YouTube and Vimeo are awesome, fantastic, incredible, indispensible resources that represent a massive paradigm shift in broadcast video. It wasn't that long ago that the only way to get a piece of video in front of a million people was to own a television network like NBC or CBS. Today anybody with a celphone can create content that can instantly be seen by millions, maybe even billions of people by uploading it to YouTube! The result has been an online video resource containing millions upon millions of user-uploaded videos pertaining to every single subject, concept and idea in existence. These sites are invaluable resources for conducting research into an infinitely broad range of topics.

Now, having said all that, YouTube is also hopelessly overrun by stupidity. The vast majority of videos to be seen are what I consider to be complete and utter garbage and even most of the videos I find that are tagged for a particular concept turn out to be anything but relevant to what I am researching. YouTube has also become something of an arena for personal attack artists and athletes where the comments for some videos are so offensive and appauling that they can really lower your appreciation for humanity.

Enter JayTube.org - JayTube offers an evironment conducive to quiet study and appreciation of the information in each video. It is my own personal window into both YouTube and Vimeo web sites, as well as my own hosted videos. JayTube is a place where a person can find videos related to information that I personally find very interesting, but that also hold broad appeal for people who are interested in learning about new ideas related to art, science, history, technology and other areas. I currate the collections myself and new videos are typically added daily.

So there are no videos of cats that look like Hitler on JayTube.. and no comments! :)

Important: Please Note the .ORG in the domain name. ( Jaytube.com is a porn site not owned by me. Figures, right? )

All JayTube videos are either served directly from my server or they are embedded videos originating from YouTube and Vimeo.

Introduction

Not long ago, I started buying and selling bitcoins on the internet. If you don't know what bitcoins are do some research, you'll be glad you did. The exchange that I trade at, called Bitstamp, provides free access to their trading API so I decided I should write my own automatic trader application and BTC4me was born.

This project has functioned as a way for me to finally get acquainted with using the canvas element. I had never used canvas before I started this site, and I now consider myself to be an advanced developer of canvas applications.

The market graph I developed is updated every few seconds via the Bitstamp API and my orders are tracked by the system and can be set to automatically rotate between buy and sell according to market conditions and based on my configuration settings. I recently updated the application to integrate Twilio service allowing the application to send and receive SMS text messages that tell me when orders are filled. This new feature also allows me to control the automatic trading system remotely by sending SMS text commands to the server.

Project URLs:

https://btc4me.com

Welcome to BTC4me.com
The market graph is fully interactive, highly configurable and ties directly into my exchange account to execute trades automatically based on my configuration.

Introduction

Written, performed and recorded by Spotted Marley ©2013

Once in every while
Something comes to mind
And everything changes
Rearranges

Everything's alright
Slack jawed and wide eyed
I thought I knew before but
I just didn't realize

If I blow my mind away
Every thought that comes to you
It vibrates through
My DNA

You can see it on the sun
The simplest geometry
There seems to be
An opening

Our wave of time collapses to zero
One way, one ride. We're learning while we go
Now, once or twice, a chance to be pure light
May come along and make it all feel right

The chemicals, they interact with us
We use the super powers they give us
To peer inside the secrets of nature
We are, you see, inquisitive creatures

Blow my mind away
A triangle on the sun
Looking down on us
On beautiful children
Blows my mind away

Introduction

In January of 2011 I returned to Orlando, Florida from Los Angeles and immediately started employment at a local Coldfusion developement house called Mojo Interactive. I was hired on as their senior Coldfusion developer and my first project was in leading development for a ground-up re-design, re-think and re-build of their flagship product, LocateADoc.com.

LocateADoc.com is the internet's largest fully searchable online directory of doctors and cosmetic surgeons & specialists and this project not only called for a total makeover of the entire web site and application, it was also decided that we would start using the CFWheels framework as our foundation, something nobody on the team, myself included, had any experience using at the time. In order to take full advantage of the framework the enormous SQLServer database that supports the application had to also be redesigned and reconfigured, all while allowing zero downtime of the legacy system.

The obsticals were considerable, however in just under 10 months my team took this project from concept to a fully working public beta. In the process I became an expert user of the CFWheels framework and continue to use it for many of my personal projects, including this web site.

Project URLs:

http://locateadoc.com

LocateADoc.com is the largest online directory of doctors specializing in cosmetic and plastic surgery, bariatrics, hair restoration, LASIK, cosmetic dentistry and IVF specialties. This brand new version 3.0 web site is still in beta and should go into full production in fall of 2012. Work performed for Mojo Interactive in Orlando, Fl.
The heart and soul of this web site is the Before & After Gallery. More than 80% percent of all traffic to the site enters through this area as users are typically researching medical procedures and looking for before and after images.
I decided to use a retail-style filter system along the left-side edge of the Before & After Gallery search results page to allow users to very quickly and intuitively filter through tens of thousands of procedures performed by thousands of doctors in the database. I used a relatively novel combination of hash-tag navigation and the powerful routing features of CFWheels to accomplish the task with excellent results.

over the mountain
in the valley of roses
a clear minded people

look for the prophet
tall and magestic
his name is the eagle

a warrior shaman
his drink of the root
opens doors of perception

it tastes like fire
burning away
every trace of deception

stripped of the ego
a poor naked baby
alone by the fire

soul like a phoenix
billowing up
from a funeral pire

pure as the water
that runs like a snake through
the valley of roses

follow the eagle
a door opens up
while another one closes

over the mountain
in the valley of roses
a clear minded people

a soul resurected
returns to the flesh
carried home by the eagle

a smoldering fire
and an eagle sings loudly
a prayer for compassion

and the sweet smell of roses

and the sweet smell of roses

Apple PhonePad 9G

Introduction

Paul got a new Apple PhonePad 9G! ... actually, he got two.

Introduction

This is my most recent animation accomplishment. It is the first episode of what I had hoped would be a new series called 'Devz'.

As always, I cast myself as the main character working as a web applications developer, much as I do in real life only employed by a fictional company: Analtech

In creating this animation I finally tackled the one last missing piece from these productions, the whole issue of recording live dialog as I'd always wanted to do on previous animations. I knew I had plenty of recording and audio editing experience, I just hadn't yet put forth the effort into that aspect of an animation. I also believe that I have come much closer to knowing my own animating style and process during this project too.

I hope I pop out of my current animation slump sometime soon!

You look like you could use
A vacation in the stars
There is no better way
To remember who you are

Relax now
You're safe here
Close your eyes and open your mind
Think of what you want
And where you wanna go
Now open your eyes and

Look through my telescope
Tell me where you wanna go
We'll leave tonight
In this big universe
Where all our big ideas converge
We'll live a life among the stars

We're floating up to the top
Of a mountain in the sky
And above our heads with the stars
We become cosmically aligned

You're right on time
This is your moment
All thats left to do now
Is pick out your favorite place
Now open your eyes and

Look through my telescope
Tell me where you wanna go
We'll leave tonight
In this big universe
Where all our big ideas converge
We'll live a life among the stars

The Adventures of Jay Ep3

Introduction

Episode 3: Making the Deal

Introduction

Episode three is a culmination of the lessons and techniques learned in the first two episodes and I was now pretty damned efficient in all aspects of my production process so it only took about a week or two to finish the episode.. but still no live-recorded dialog! I either didn't have the time, the energy or the patience to record dialog on this one so I just threw some more speech balloons in there. I was now determined that my next project was going to have a full soundtrack.

Introduction

Episode 2: TOOL Tickets

Introduction

For episode two I put all of the lessons learned from episode one to work. I introduced story boarding into my production process which made everything much more organized and efficient and began relying on my own set of technical conventions for achieving a much more consistent animation style and method. These things combined allowed me to finish this animation, which I think is a decent step up from episode one, in less time than that animation.. about 3 weeks.

The Adventures of Jay Ep1

Introduction

Episode 1: The Bad Tooth

Introduction

Back in about 2003 I decided to teach myself how to animate in Flash. I came up with a quick little project that I could use as my first lesson.

The Adventures of Jay was born ...

I had no idea what I was doing and, as a result, this video took almost a month to create but by the end of it I already had a much
clearer attack plan for episode two.

the children they wont see
the wrinkles on your face
or the candles in the windows
of that old familiar place

shadows on the sidewalk
growing longer and diffused
we run outside
our worlds collide
the endless freedom of our youth

and we learned along the way

we all have so many questions
gathering our thoughts in a circular fashion
we are the same as the children that we were
when we hadn't learned anything
anything
anything at all

hoping to see what we've waited for
wandering lonely and patiently
numb to the idea of sacrifice
we all need someone who will wait for us

keep running faster the street lights are on
warm to the touch but the summer is gone
i keep what you said written down on my arm
a trick that i learned from you somewhere
along the way

and we learn along the way
how to be ourselves and be okay
moving closer every day
but the end still seems so far away

Sliding down----

Prologue by Noam Chomsky

Much decay, dissintegration, systems breaking down
Disconnection, discontent, disturbing and profound
Under mass hypnosis, more than happy to oblige
Having passed the apex, we slide down the other side

Sliding down----

Rare and precious gold and diamonds, rarer still: the truth
Robotic adulthood, we were programmed in our youth
Indignation, suffocation, trapped inside a lie
Must be why I'm happier the further down we slide

goodbye society
we're going deep into the sea
i won the lottery
and bought this lovely submarine

now me and Marley have just
one more chance to say farewell to
all the friends we leave behind
best of luck to you

our new friends will be
the tortoises and sea
horses we meet
as we silently sink deeper
and deeper into the sea

far away
from the game at play
up on dry land
up on dry land

--- DIVE!

every morning we'll have
breakfast with the octopuses
then dinner with the
humpback whales (they always dress so nice)

always going deeper
never to resurface
leaving only bubbles
in our trail

we are two castaways, but
we are content that way, so
trouble yourself not
with rescue ships

in our new home among the reef
all are welcome to retreat
we have a futon in the guestroom
of our submarine

About Me

Introduction

Jch portrait

I was born in 1975 and started life in the small New England town of Georgetown, Massachusettes until I was about nine years old. To the average American In the early 1980s a "home computer" was a curiosity at best and my family was one of the first to have one. The computer was a Tandy TRS-80, hardly a computer at all by today's standards. Software for the "Trash 80" came on small plastic cartridges and was scarce enough that we didn't have any, but we had a big, thick book filled with basic programs, so at the age of seven or eight I started learning to write games and graphic programs to entertain myself. I remember one of my favorite things to write at the time were Mad-libs games. They would ask you for a series of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs and then spit out a funny story using them. I learned pretty quickly that there was much more fun, challenge and reward in writing computer games than in playing them.

By the time my family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1984 we were deep into the Commadore 64 era. It was a huge step up from the TRS-80 and, as fate would have it, we moved in across the street from a kid who was just a few years older than me and who had not just one C64, he had two (!) and I would learn that he was a "SysOp" of a "BBS" where he and other "users" traded "warez" with their "300 baud modems" and even "hacked" calling cards and a ton of other completely new and exciting concepts I had never even known existed in computing. My new friend introduced me to a few of the local SysOps and I started my own BBS not long after. Over some time I basically just absorbed an education in computers, software, programming, system administration and even some early networking concepts. We felt like pioneers and, to this point, most normal people still weren't entirely sure what computers were good for or why they would need one.

Obviously that didn't last for long. To look back and think about how personal computing changed over the following decade feels a bit like watching an explosion in slow motion. I remained faithful for a while to the Commadore and Amiga systems and I was actually a bit late to enter into the "IBM-PC" arena, my first real modern-ish PC was a 386sx-16. It had 16 megabytes of RAM, 40 megabyte hard drive and a 14.4k modem! Serious power compared to anything I was familiar with.

Then the internet started to happen and my skills as a developer really began to materialize. When I finished high school in 1993 I was lucky to find a Medical Corporation called Rotech Medical that needed a Coldfusion developer. Coldfusion was brand new at the time (Version 1), owned by Allaire, and nobody had really heard of it yet, myself included. At my interview I was simply asked if I was willing to learn. Of course I'm willing to learn! Wait, you're still gonna pay me, right? They did, and at 17 years old I started to earn my first salary as an application developer. So that's what I did for the next couple years. I learned everything about the web, client and server-side technologies, back end databases (we used Informix, Oracle, MSSQL and even Access databases at the time) and by the time I left I had single-handedly written a web-based serialized inventory tracking system that was implemented at 100+ locations nationwide. Serialized tracking of inventory is a mandatory requirement for medical companies seeking to become JCAHO approved, an important medical industry accreditation. The system that I developed helped win Rotech their approval. Looking back, it wasn't just Coldfusion and relational databases I was learning there, I was learning about application design, interface design, and other important concepts of development by just doing it. There wasn't a whole lot of example to take from at the time.

That was my first real job as an application developer and since then I have enjoyed success working as such for many industries ranging from financial to advertising and marketing, the movie industry, environmental contracting, publishing and even some regular old customer-based web development. I continue to grow my skill set and today it's all about frameworks and abstraction so I am a Coldfusion developer, but I'm in love with MVC frameworks (CFWheels is my jam). I am a javascript developer, but I'm in love with jQuery (God, who isn't?)

What I didn't touch on here was the whole other side of my life and that is my love of art and for creating things. I will take an artistic approach to that side of the story and not say much at all with the sincere hope that by clicking around my portfolio it may become self evident. Something else that may become evident is that I am also an avid researcher and inventor. I like to learn things and I like to make things.

And if you made it this far, thanks for your interest!
